W.M. Kelley has acquired Lauyans & Company, Inc. - See Press Release

A 100% Employee Owned Company

W. M. Kelley Company originally began operation in 1964 in New Albany, Indiana as a supplier of used wood working equipment. In the early years, the founder, William Kelley, quickly realized he could supplement his machine sales business by doing some light metal fabrication. During those early days, the company moved from New Albany, Indiana to Louisville, Kentucky and finally to its current location (620 Durgee Road, New Albany, Indiana) in 1970.

In 1976, William Kelley passed away. At this time, two of William’s sons, Frederick and Michael, took over running the day to day operations of the company. As the company continued on, Fred and Mike began the process of purchasing the company from their mother, Ruth Kelley. In 1985, W. M. Kelley Company, Inc. became incorporated.

During the next 32 years the company continued to grow and concentrate on metal fabrication and material handling equipment. In 2017, the decision was made by Fred and Mike to sell the business to the employees who helped them build the company. On October 1, 2017 the ownership of W. M. Kelley Company was transferred to become a 100% Employee Owned Company. Fred retired from active duty at W. M. Kelley in late 2017. Mike along with his Board of Directors position remains involved in the day to day operations as the President of the corporation.

As W. M. Kelley Company continues to operate with the same founding principles as a small family owned business we also continue to move ahead in capacity and technology with the same goal we strove to achieve in the early years which is taking care of the customer.
